Reptiles

The first reptiles appeared late in the Carboniferous Period (about 350 million years ago). The earliest known reptile is a tiny lizard-like creature called a petrolacosaurus. 

The reptiles rapidly diversified to eventually include lizards, snakes, turtles, crocodiles, dinosaurs, pterosaurs, ichthyosaurs and birds.
