The first primitive plants appeared late in the Ordovician Period (about 434 million years ago). they did not resemble modern plants until the late Silurian Period (about 410 million years ago). by the end of the Devonian Period (354 million years ago), there was a wide variety of plants from tiny creepers to large trees.
